Downloadable Software Distributions

All of Em's products are available as electronic distributions downloadable from each product's download area (see right). Product distributions include the XTensions or plug-ins, sample files, and full manuals in PDF format.

These electronic distributions can be used as full electronic-only copies after purchase (using the serial number obtained to turn them into a full copy), as demonstration/trial copies before purchase, and as upgrade copies for products bought earlier from Em (using your a newly-acquired upgrade serial number for major upgrades, and using your existing serial for minor). You can also get pre-release distributions of our products.

To download, extract and install these products:

• download the appropriate product-specific, platform-specific electronic distribution archive (see above right) using your normal tools (web browser, FTP client, etc.).

• if your browser didn't automatically expand the files into a folder when you downloaded it, then expand the downloaded .zip file with:

  • (under Mac OS) the Finder's built-in Zip file support;

  • (under Windows XP) the Windows Explorer built-in Zip file support;

  • (under Windows 2000 or earlier) either 7-Zip or WinZip.

• read the Installation section in the on-line manual for any special directions on installing the product, but, basically, to install the software:

  • for XPress XTensions, drag the desired XTension file into the QuarkXPress 6 XTension sub-folder (be sure to use a 6.x XTension in that case), or into the QuarkXPress 7 Xtensions sub-folder (be sure to use a 7.x XTension in that case).

  • for InDesign plug-ins, drag the desired plug-in file into any sub-folder of the InDesign Plug-ins sub-folder (be sure to use a 3.x plug-in with InDesign CS, a 4.x plug-in with InDesign CS2 (InDesign 4.x), and a 5.x plug-in with InDesign CS3 (version 5.x)).

• if they're not already where you want them, copy or move any sample or tutorial folders to a more permanent place.
