To use a given product's on-line distribution for an
upgrade:
download and install the appropriate archive
(see right)
which, once expanded, is the full product.
Note that you don't normally have to enter your name and email address
in this case (unless it's a major upgrade that requires a new serial number).
if you're upgrading an older product to a 6.x XTension product,
you'll have to enter your newly-acquired serial number
(earlier serials won't work).
if you're upgrading an existing 4.x XTension product or an InDesign
plug-in product, once you've installed the new XTension or plug-in
and removed the old copy, you should be finished. Your old serial number will
be remembered from before (it's in the product.reg file in the XPress
folder or plug-in folder, respectively).
if you're upgrading an existing 3.x XTension product, you'll have
to re-enter your original serial number at the prompt, when running
XPress for the first time after the upgrade.
of course, if you're installing the upgrade in a new setting (new
machine or new XPress or InDesign installation),
you'll have to re-enter your original serial number the next
time you restart the "mother ship" application.
